FULL COLOUR CMYK GOBOS
One of the most challenging type of images to project is a full resolution photographic image. This artwork is often comprised of a wide range of naturalistic colours, smooth even colour graduations, and complex, detailed composition. In traditional coloured glass gobos, these qualities are difficult to achieve. Projecting these ornate images are exactly why Rosco developed the unique processes that make up a Hi Definition Photogobo.
Similar to our Spot Colour gobos, Full Colour CMYK Gobos begin with Rosco's high quality dichroic coatings. But that is where the similarity ends. Using ultra high resolution imaging, each part of your design is carefully and exactingly rendered as a 4 colour separation and precisely etched into the glass plates. Such fine etch patterns allow for the advanced color mixing needed to render subtle colours like skin tones and skies.
Modern luminaires have perfected lens systems capable of projecting a level of detail previously found only in expensive high end projectors. Typical glass gobos may be thicker than the focal plane of such luminaires. The result then is a projected image with certain elements in sharp focus, while others are soft and blurred. Rosco's Full Colour CMYK Gobos, on the other hand, uses a proprietary technique to maintain a single plane of focus, where no colour plate is separated by more than 0.7mm. This means each element in your design will project with stunning sharpness and clarity.
The conclusion, Rosco Full Colour CMYK Glass Gobos are the highest quality gobos available for theatrical luminaires and automated lighting.

Glass gobos can withstand temperatures found in modern ellipsoidal luminaires ("lekos") that use the new generation of sub-1000 watt lamps and a dichroic reflector. Moving lights using metal halide sources up to 1200 watts are generally compatible as well. However since some luminaires generate an abnormal amount of heat, it is advised to check with Rosco to see if your fixture is suitable for use with Spectrumgobos.
The quality of your gobo will be determined, in large part by the quality of the artwork you submit. Please read through the artwork guidelines carefully to insure that your projection will be successful. In addition, thorough instructions for submitting artwork and ordering your gobo are available and should be reviewed to avoid any delays making your gobo.
